Picks of the Week

So todays post is about the songs that I haven't been able to avoid for the past week or so (and you shouldn't avoid either). Everyone I speak to goes through little bouts of obsession with a select few songs each week, I am no different, there is always something I'm really feeling at the moment. But then again, isn't that what this site is all about?

The first song of the week is the Boys Noize remix of I-robots "Frau". Now, the first time I heard this song was way back in the day (like 2 years ago) and it has been on my mind ever since, its the kind of thing that you cannot forget. I know I did my Boys Noize post a few days ago, but come on, he makes bangers.

I-Robots - Frau (Boys Noize Remix)

Second pick of the week is the Midnight Fuck Remix of M83's "Run Into Flowers" by Jackson. M83 is a french group who make atmospheric music and somewhat emotional music. Jackson has taken this track and given a nice head-bobbing beat.
(p.s. you could totally fuck to this too)

M83 - Run Into Flowers (Midnight Fuck Remix by Jackson)

Third is the datA remix of Tepr's "Minuit Jacuzzi" a nice little number to get that big ol' ass bouncin' (I don't really know what to say about this song)

Tepr - Minuit Jacuzzi (datA Remix)

Shout out to Molekei for hooking these tracks up.

Fourth is the song "Archangel" by Burial. Now, I don't think I've ever put up a dubstep song on the site so prepare yourself chillun, shit's fucked up. But, it will hold you hostage.

Burial - Archangel

Big shout out to Tom & Truspin over at The Sweet Fix for this one. If you haven't been there yet, GO. These dudes hold it down. Tom, Truspin holler at me.

Until next time kiddies.

Gettin' Down

What up, hope everyone had a wonderful christmas and got away with all that loot.
Well here's another present from me to you.

Sleazy-E - Dime A Dozen

Smart

Yass Yass, this post is about everyone's favorite turntablist from the dirty south, Klever a.k.a. Josh Winkler. Now this man has a lot of rep other than his remixing skills. He's won the American DMC's twice, got second place in the international DMC, won the ITF USA title and a whole other bunch of Atlanta titles. He's also a member of A-Trak/Craze's "Allies" crew and also runs Atlanta's most fucked up party every month "Sloppy Seconds". He mixes his hip hop background into his electronic influences to create the unltimate party jams or as he labels it, Electrocrunk. HOLLER.

Klever - The Stud

Klever - Drifter

Klever - Kryptobounce

OK,OK,OK

(Get it, Jeff?)

Yo Kiddos, what up, what up. Been a minute since the last post so I'm gonna do one of those big post dealies to compensate.

So, I just got home from the Boys Noize concert and I feel like droppin' one of his tracks for you. Now I'm assuming most of you are familiar with this character (we posted his remix of Feist's "My Moon My Man" quite a while ago)
If not he is a German artist on Montreal's own Turbo Recordings label and he has dropped his new album entitled: "Oi Oi Oi", just recently. That being said here's the first single from the album.

Boys Noize - & Down (Extended Mix)

Second up is the new Outkast track off of DJ Drama's Gangsta Grillz album. So the first thing about this song is that Andre has gone back to rapping and he reminds why Outkast has gotten to where they are today. The second this is that its absolutely fucking banging. Period.

Outkast - Da Art Of Storytellin' Pt. 4

Now for the last track of the day, I want to just wind things down quite a bit. Now, the name Erlend Oye may mean quite a bit to a lot of you and it may mean almost nothing to some people as well. Basically, this man is a musical powerhouse and is keeping the Norway music scene on the map. He is part of two very popular groups, Kings of Convenience and The Whitest Boy Alive as well as making music labelled with his own name. If you still haven't got a clue about who this guy is, just listen.

Kings of Convenience - Misread

Mahalo

Hey there folks, sorry for the wait. I decided that since I've een only posting my own shit for the past while that I'll make up for it by giving you guys a whole bunch of tracks all at once, that are all good!

First off is one of my favorite remixes of all time, the Riot in Belgium remix of Yelle's "A Cause Des Garcons". Why? you ask, well it's because the song has been transformed from a hunk of pop-garbage into a ravestravaganza. I know that this track came out like three months ago (maybe longer) but it holds its own.

Yelle - A.C.D.G. (Riot In Belgium Remix)

If you don't know who Herve is by now you probably have been living under a rock for the past year. He is also known as the Count of Monte Cristal and has made possibly the best few remixes I have ever heard in my life. Therefore, for your listening pleasure, here is a Herve remix which never ceases to kill it.

Larry Tee ft. Princess Superstar - Work It Out (Herve Goes Low Remix)

And, last but not least, here comes crookers with some dirty shit. Bumblebeez are a group from australia who make fun music (a mix between rock, electronic & rap) anyways their track "Dr. Love" gets a grimey makeover from Crookers, who never cease to impress.

Bumblebeez - Dr. Love (Crookers Remix)

Anyways until next time you crazy cats and chicks...

This song is so Gino'd out its unbelievable. It screams hair gel, civics and thinking that you are the toughest, most important guy in the world. BUT, I still can't stop listening to it for some reason. It's a track called twilight by some dudes who make progressive house named Adam K and Soha. It grows on you.

Yo Rae, where the fuck it at? 2007 is almost over and you still have not dropped the album. You did the promo tour like a year ago and put out a shitload of mixtapes to hype it up. Posted Up Like A Mailbox

I am surprised that I haven't mentioned this man before (that's Roots Manuva up there by the way). His flows are absolutely incredible and are enriched by his accent. He creates a form of rap that is melodic and always interesting. The track "Tears" comes from his album called "Dub Come Save Me" which is a play on the name of one of his albums "Run Come Save Me". Now, I know what you are thinking: "Oh! It's the same album, but its done in dub reggae!".
You're fucking wrong. It's a rap album backed by dubstep/reggae beats. It's also fucking amazing.

Roots Manuva - Tears

Secondly, I wanted to lay something smooth on you jive turkey motherfuckers. This is a classic track by Thelonius Monk and Gerry Mulligan entitled: 'Round Midnight. In fact it's such a classic, that it's now a jazz standard. He was also one of the founders of bebop. whatup.

Oh, and here's the tracklist for the mixtape (Angeldust & Applejacks)

WHATUP DOOD?

Ayo Technology loyal readers. Been a while since th last post, yeah we've been slipping. But enough with the formalities, let's get down to business shall we?

First off, there's a track out that I think is getting slept on a little too much. That track would be the remix of Thom Yorke's "Eraser" by XXXchange. Once again XXXchange proves why he's one of the best in the game by flipping this song into an electrofunk disco jam which commands respect. Reminds me of a Metro Area or Pilooski jam.

Thom Yorke - Eraser (XXXchange Remix)

Now, here in MTL it is getting colder by the day and winter is poking its ugly head out from around the corner. So, how can girls stay warm and keep guys warm at the same time? BOOTY POPPIN. So for your ass shaking enjoyment is this Miami booty bass gem.

95 South - Wet N' Wild (DJ Laz Booty Bounce Mix)

And finally, here is your daily dose of righteousness, a little B-More'd up version of Sam and Dave's "Hold On". I'm dropping straight gems today son! Anyways, until next time loyal readers.

Sam & Dave - Hold On (DJ Nature Remix)

Calm, Unlike a Bomb

Hello all. Today's post is about relaxed music. Here at Les Stacks, we usually hit you with some shit that basically won't allow you to sit down, but today is different. This post is encouraging everyone to chil the fuck out and just "be". Don't think about how much hype the song has or how many ther kids like the song. experience it. Everyone needs to take a break from excessive synth and bass once and a while. Here's the chance.

The Break

Well I thought I'd use this post to drop some knowledge on all our loyal readers out there in the ever so expanding blogosphere OR make a bunch of people scratch their fucking heads. Anyways, this song is one of the most sampled breaks of all time next to "funky drummer"(interesting that this song is also a James Brown production). In fact it is one of two samples that make up the B-More Club sound, the other being Sing Sing by Gaz. So Here it is boys and girls, listen and figure out how many songs that you love have sampled this track.

Lyn Collins - Think (About It)

Reynolds Bling Bling

I can't believe that I haven't done a post on these dudes before. Everyone has probably heard the name Plastic Little before, but who are Plastic Little? Well, they are the greatest group of foul mouthed rappers of all time. Every other line is a laugh out loud punch line. It's strange to listen to a rap album that is entriely comedic yet doesn't suck. The beats are insane and these dude actually have mic skills. They are signed to aNYthing records (yes its run by the same dude who makes clothes), plus, they are from Philly, so they have a bunch of tracks with Amanda Blank and Spank Rock, they even have a tracks with Ghostface and MF Doom. HOLLER.

Plastic Little - More Tongue Less Teeth ft. MF Doom (Nosaj Thing Remix)

Plastic Little - Now I Holler ft. Spank Rock & Diplo

All About Bone-ing

What's up all you cats out there in blog world. Today's track is by Chromeo featuring Pase Rock, whats that? too good of a track you say? well its also remixed by Eli, so eat your fucking heart out. It's the "newest" single from Montreal's sweethearts and it's all about bone-ing (how do you properly write that word?) younger girls. Dave claims that the ladies need an older more experienced man. Well...Well...Welllll. Fresh track though.

Chromeo - Bonafied Lovin' ft. Pase Rock (Eli Remix)

p.s. Be on the lookout for the mixtape face off between me and Rilly A.K.A. Electro vs. B-more A.K.A. Hymns & Tonic vs. Angeldust & Applejacks (Ode to B-more)

Musical Equivalent of a Lootbag

You know that song that everyone fucking loves when it comes on at a party? The one with the horns and the patois female vocals? The one no one knows the name of? Yeah. It's called Calbria 2007 by Enur and Nastasja. I know some of you have been on the hunt for this gem.

Enur & Nastasja - Calbria 2007 (Hoff Edit)

Number two on the list is a remix by Brodinski of some obscure french band called The Shoes.
This guy knows how to remix, its known and the bass in this song is incredible. It basically tells you to get the fuck up right the fuck now. enjoy.

The Shoes - America (Brodinski Remix)

Here's another one that everyone loves but few know. Its in almost every mixtape you've heard and its one of those tracks that still somehow manages to flies under the radar. Well, here it is, DJ Funk in all his booty bass glory flipping a justice track to get a whole different kind of ass shaking. Don't let the Justice stamp worry you this track is Hood Friendly.

Justice - Let There Be Light (DJ Funk Bounce Dat Ass Remix)

So for my first post I would like to practice an old custom...

Something old, brought to you by Lady Tigra and Bunny D aka L'Trimm...

Something new, get the NIN : Year Zero album, and dance to this Phones remix. There is a Switch take of this track that will get you doing the fidget, both tracks are on on the same 12" so get your hands on it.

Something borrowed, well for this I offer you the most blog featured banger at the moment (I can't think of anything else!)...

MIA feat Bun B and Rich Boy - Paper Planes

Something Blu, to end it off. A track from the Blu & Exile album 'Below the Heavens', I own it and so should you.

Blu & Exile - No Greater Love

I'll be back with some more goodness and some more words. Enjoy and support.

ONE WORD: BOOTY

Spank Rock has teamed up with the 19 year old producer Benny Blanco to put out a heavily 2 Live Crew inspired album. Its more Miami than Baltimore but no matter where its located it still shakes asses. Up until the album drops, Spank Rock and Blanco are releasing a track on their myspace page every week for download. The tracks only stay up for two days so here are the first three tracks which have been released for you cats who have been sleeping on this shit.

Spank Rock & Benny Blanco (Are Bangers & Cash) - Shake That Ass

Spank Rock & Benny Blanco (Are Bangers & Cash) - B.O.O.T.A.Y. ft. Santogold & Black Betty

Wale

There's a new Wale mixtape mixed by catchdubs and it seems homie is now on the french electro tip. He comes out with a remix of Justice's D.A.N.C.E. and does it way the fuck better than that dude Chip Da Ripper. This shit is sick, but for a trendsetter isn't he a little late on this shit, even kanyeezy beat him to the new sound.

Moulinex

These guys make the most intense music ever. It would rock the shit out of any party it is played at. They are from Portugal and according to their myspace:
"Luis Clara Gomes and Rui Pedro Ribeiro met each other in kindergarten, where they shared their passion for astrophysics, cyberculture, and cheerios. While Bob Moog taught them electronics, David Hasselhoff trained them to the fine art of using red shorts and made them realize why they shouldn't sing. During their childhood, they were kidnapped by Daft Punk, who kept them sedated for years with massive doses of 808s and 909s. Eventually they escaped, but those kicks and hats never left their minds."
Epic.
(By the way, this song came out before aerius light, so if anyone's biting, it's datA)

Scrooge McDuck

Now, this post is all about the love that I have for the readers of this piece of shit blog. I call it a piece of shit because the text is somewhat amusing yet rarely informing. I guess the point is to expose people to music that they never would have heard otherwise. My writing style is completely informal and laced with typos. This is because I have a different approach to this project than most who embark on this long and dynamic journey through the internet blogosphere. Anyways, I thank people for actually checking it out and here's some tunes straight from the vault (not really).

Red Foxx - What You Know About Waters Of Nazareth

Daft Punk - Da Funk (Casino Inc. Amazing Disco Mix)

The Pase Rock - So Fucking Disco

Stanton Warriors - Pop Ya Cork

Harder, Better, Faster, Full Song

I know you cats who read this shit have heard the song "stronger" by kanyeezy and I'm sure you're pissed that the only full version of the song you can find has Mark Ronson fucking around on top of the track over the radio. Well kiddos here is the track un-interupted in all its blazing fucking glory. That's right, Les Stacks hooks it up.

What's Black And White And Red All Over?

I know this is breaking from the normal pace and musical stylings of this blog, but... The White Stripes are putting out a new album on June 19th called "Icky Thump" and their first single, "Icky Thump" is unbelievable. The term "Icky Thump" is derived from the Yorkshire slang term: "Ecky Thump" or an exclamation of surprise. Yorkshire is also where Jack White's new wife hails from and understandibly the inspiration for the title. Also, Jack gets political on this one, not hesitating to comment on the US' problem with immigration. This song is reminiscent of "Blue Orchid" and their earlier more agressive tracks. The album was recorded in Nashville, the city with possibly the most "ghosts" in America and after about a year of the duo being apart. That might have been for the better because this song is one of the best rock songs that has been released in quite a while.

The White Stripes - Icky Thump

Don't know. Don't Care. Great Song: Great Video

139 & Lennox

Yo have you kiddies ever heard the track "Danger Zone" by Big L? The rhymes in this shit are the illest that have ever been heard on wax. How ill? you ask, well...they are ill enough to make the use of the word "ill" acceptable. Of course, the content is horrifying but his wordplay reigns supreme (that's right, I said it. But you probably already knew that the kid had skill). Plus, don't we all listen to rap to be shocked anyways?

Soul For Sound

You know, today's the day for a little laid-back something something, a little funky something, a little soulful something. I recently noticed how good Outkast was (listen to their first three albums) and this song "SpottieOttieDopaliscious" is an incredible seven minutes of laid back gangsta-groove haha. Of course, there is the mandatory posting of something by a frenchman, so we have pilooski's edit of Jackson Jones' song "I Feel Good". Fuck the french are on fire, I've been listening to this song for about a month straight. Just kidding. It's fucking good though. Both these are.
