Local Heat of Yesteryear

Often mistaken as a European (most likely due to his euro-disco sound), Gino Soccio was born in Montreal and still lives in Quebec. He first started making music under the name of Kebekelektrik producing hits like "Magic Fly" and "War Dance", then moving on with a project called Witch Queen and getting a hit with "Bang A Gong". His first major success came with the release of the first album under his own name. The single, "Dancer" from the album "Outline" went to number one. His biggest success came with the came with the release of 1981's "Closer" when disco was nearing its end. The album was more downtempo and closer to what the radio stations (R&B stations) wanted to be playing. "Try It Out' was the first single off of the "Closer" album and grabbed him some rotations on the radio. Soccio released one more album and a few 12"s in the later part of the 80's until he decided to return to being a studio musician and then producer.
