Babies Dream Big

A while ago (a long while, sorry Alan) I was contacted by a man named Alan Wilkis who wanted me to listen to his new album "Babies Dream Big". Needless to say I procrastinated, but he kept reminding me to listen to it. Now, some people would be annoyed by that kind of thing, but I think it shows how dedicated he is to his music and after listening to his album, I must say, rightfully so. His album roams from soul to rock and roll, to electronic to pop, and it works. It's really a "feel-good" kind of album and is definitely worth rotating a few times. Alan was nice enough to send me tracks from the album, so check em out.

Sun Sunny, Sum Summy

So I have decided that I am putting my foot down. Summer is here. That being said I want to drop some summer tunes on you, be they reggae, dancehall or dubstep (the good kind, not that moody "I took too many drugs" kind of shit). I mean, summer has got to have a sound, and what do you want to hear more when you are thizzed out in the sun other than some good vibes? Anyways scheck it and enjoy.

Local Heat of Yesteryear

Often mistaken as a European (most likely due to his euro-disco sound), Gino Soccio was born in Montreal and still lives in Quebec. He first started making music under the name of Kebekelektrik producing hits like "Magic Fly" and "War Dance", then moving on with a project called Witch Queen and getting a hit with "Bang A Gong". His first major success came with the release of the first album under his own name. The single, "Dancer" from the album "Outline" went to number one. His biggest success came with the came with the release of 1981's "Closer" when disco was nearing its end. The album was more downtempo and closer to what the radio stations (R&B stations) wanted to be playing. "Try It Out' was the first single off of the "Closer" album and grabbed him some rotations on the radio. Soccio released one more album and a few 12"s in the later part of the 80's until he decided to return to being a studio musician and then producer.
